In many households and businesses across Australia, a special tradition takes place each year – Cancer Council Biggest Morning Teas. This iconic event connects people from all walks of life over treats and cups of tea, all with the common goal of raising awareness and vital funds for cancer research!
Sadly, all of us will be impacted by cancer at some point in our lives, and 1 in 2 Australians are diagnosed before the age of 85. The Cancer Council’s mission is to support people impacted by cancer when they need it most, speak out on behalf of the community on cancer issues, empower people to reduce their cancer risk, find new ways to better detect and treat cancer, and ultimately, bring us closer to a cancer free future.
Biggest Morning Teas are just one of the various ways the Cancer Council make a difference, presenting a beautiful and rewarding opportunity for people to connect over shared stories, raise funds, and honour the bravery and resilience of cancer patients, survivors, and their loved ones. Through the collective efforts of individuals, workplaces, schools, and community groups, this annual event plays a crucial role in funding cutting-edge research projects, delivering life-saving prevention campaigns, and providing invaluable support to those affected by cancer. Founded 30 years ago, it is the largest, most successful event of its kind in Australia, with over $13,053,474 raised in 2024 so far!
Every year, each of our Oak Tree Retirement Villages proudly support the Cancer Council by hosting Biggest Morning Teas in the village centres. These events are not just a testament to our commitment to fighting cancer but also a celebration of community spirit and generosity! Our residents and attendees from the local community always make generous donations, and local businesses play a crucial role in the success of our events, generously donating beautiful lucky door prizes.
This year, Oak Tree are proud to announce that we raised over $27,344 through Biggest Morning Tea village events in May and June! Over the past three years, we’ve collectively raised an incredible $66,614 in support of the Cancer Council, and we would like to thank our wonderful residents, local partners, and Village Managers for their ongoing generosity and dedication to these powerful events!
